K+K Picasso is a cosy and intimate hotel located on the edge of El Born neighbourhood, close to the city’s main park and a great array of bars and restaurants. Here’s our K+K Hotel Picasso Barcelona review.
K+K Hotel Picasso Barcelona Review – The Location
The K+K Picasso is situated in one of our favourite area’s of Barcelona – the Born district. It’s also just across the road from the city’s best urban park – the Parc de la Ciutadella. It’s close enough to a range of excellent bars, restaurants and shops, that you can just literally stumble into bed after a night out – or even pop back to your room if you need to. Two great places to eat nearby are Bormuth – serving delicious tapas, craft beer and homemade vermouth and Koku Kitchen – offering gyoza and bao buns upstairs and authentic-style Japanese ramen in the basement.
K+K Hotel Picasso Barcelona Review – Ambience and Service
Inside is sleek and polished with an immediate relaxed feeling. There’s squishy leather seating next to reception in case you have to wait to be seen and even a snack bar, in case you get hungry in the night. The staff are very friendly and helpful and speak multiple languages to a high level, so there’s no need to worry about your requests getting lost in translation.
K+K Hotel Picasso Barcelona Review – The Room
Our room was very spacious – a lot bigger than most city centre hotels and had a small balcony looking out onto the street below. The colours of navy blue and grey gave it a neutral, business-like feel. The bathroom too was spacious and had the extra addition of a full-sized bath.
K+K Hotel Picasso Barcelona Review – The Food
The hotel does have a bistro-cafe, perfect for light bites and snacks, however since some of the city’s best restaurants and tapas bars are just around the corner, we didn’t bother eating here. The breakfast buffet offered a good spread of everything you’d expect from a Continental breakfast, including pastries, bread, fruit, cereals and local cold cuts and cheeses.
K+K Hotel Picasso Barcelona Review – The Amenities
Around the corner is another seating area – this time in bright cherry red – and a zen courtyard filled with plants, and yet more seating. There is also a lovely rooftop terrace with small swimming pool.
K+K Hotel Picasso Barcelona Review – Our Verdict
The hotel was situated in the perfect location, close to El Born, with its great bars and restaurants. We also loved the beautiful courtyard and rooftop terrace with pool. It’s unusual for a hotel in the Old Town to have a pool – so this was a great bonus. The only downside was that it was slightly noisy during the night, being located very close to a few bars, however so many places in the Ribera and Gothic Quarters have this problem, it’s hard to avoid. Overall, we would definitely stay here again.
